Comic-Con 2010-Not Just For Comic Book Fans Anymore
What began as a meeting for fellow comic book lovers forty years ago, Comic-Con International has now grown into a world-wide phenomenon with San Diego right at the center of the action. Each year the San Diego Convention Center plays host to a four day event that brings together giants from comic books, television, movies, anime, and video games, with those that are most important: the fans.
The fun begins Thursday, July 22nd, and lasts until Sunday, July 25th. Events begin nice and early each day at 9:30 and last until 7:00pm, with slightly modified hours on Sunday, ending at 5:00pm instead. Tickets do need to be bought in advance, so make sure to reserve your space as soon as possible!
So what exactly takes place at this annual convention? Four full days of events, offering a little something for every attendee's interests. There are question and answer sessions with creators and top industry executives, behind-the-scenes looks, workshops, autograph signings, insider information, vendor booths for unique gear, and more! In past years secrets have been revealed, movie clips have been previewed for the first time, and surprise celebrity appearances have been made at Comic-Con, so each day is sure to bring lots of excitement! Oh and one more important tradition...attendees often show their support for their favorite series or characters by arriving in costume. Where else can you see a Batman or Darth Vader walking around in July?
Be sure to check out the official website here to get additional information on programming, tickets, directions, and all things Comic-Con. Whether a kid or adult, a fan of the classic stories or looking forward to something new in the works, this San Diego favorite is sure to have something to pique your interest. And let's face it...who doesn't love a good action hero or two?
