Espola Road in Poway to Begin Six-Week Maintenance Project This Week
North County drivers who use Espola Road and other streets in Poway's northeast corner can expect traffic delays in the next few weeks as the city carries out an $884,345 road maintenance project. Jeff Beers, the Poway special projects manager, said that a contractor is set to start resealing more than five dozen roads in that part of town in the next week or so.
Each road on the list will get a fresh coat of sealant, which fills in small cracks and pitted areas on an asphalt surface and makes it impervious to water, maintenance work done about every eight years by the city. It is estimated that the project will take six weeks to finish, with the area of Espola Road around Poway High School finished before classes resume Aug. 14.
Espola Road will remain open while the work is done, with crews closing down and working on one lane at a time to keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible. You can find a complete list and map of the streets being resurfaced in Poway at their website here.
