This Wednesday, July 21st marks the opening day of the Del Mar Horse Racing 2010 season. A San Diego staple since 1937, the beautiful Del Mar Race Track offers almost daily horse races, food, drinks, free giveaways, and a jam-packed event calendar until September 8th. And Opening Day is the kick-off to it all!

Admission tickets for Opening Day may now be purchased online, or at the gate on Wednesday. And get this, even though more than 40,000 fans are expected to help celebrate the new season, they never sell out of admission tickets! And the horses aren't the only thing to watch that day...Opening Day is home to the annual, and now famous, One and Only Truly Fabulous Hats Contest! Whether you chose to participate with your own head wear, or just watch the hundreds of festive hats go by, it really is a sight to see in itself. Gates open at 11:30 am, and the first race begins at 2pm.
