URGE American Gastropub Opens in Rancho Bernardo
With 131 different beer varieties offered and a menu filled of traditional bar food spiced up with gourmet ingredients, a little taste of England comes to Rancho Bernardo.
URGE, a "modern interpretation of a pub", opens its doors for the first time this Friday, July 30th. Proprietors Grant Tondro, Nate Higson and Zak Higson, the Rancho Bernardo High graduates who opened The Barrel Room in 2007, will open their latest endeavor a few dozen feet away at 16761 Bernardo Center Drive, Suite M1 in The Plaza. Just as The Barrel Room was designed for wine lovers, URGE is designed for beer lovers. There will be 51 beer varieties on tap, and 80 available by bottle, featuring local to global brews. And the menu doesn't break the bank either, with entrée price range from $9-$22, with most options under $15.
URGE will open at 11:30 a.m. seven days a week and close at 10 or 11 p.m., depending on the number of patrons each night. It will have seating for 130 between its lounge, bar, dining room, patio and a private room dubbed “The Snug,” another nod to the British invasion taking place in Rancho Bernardo.
